In USA, 1972 saw an escalating opposition to the Vietnam War. In Italy, the first Gladio bombing was carried out against the state apparatus, killing 3 policemen. This would eventually lead to the exposure of the whole program.

In 1972 Brian Michael Jenkins started work on the RAND/Terrorism Chronology Database of international "terrorism" using 3” x 5” index cards.[1]
