As Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was an important cheerleader of the war on Libya in 2011. Norway joined the alliance that intervened in Libya on alleged humanitarian grounds, and during the war dropped 567 bombs, the largest Norwegian war effort since World War II, and contributed directly to Stoltenberg later getting the prestigious position as Secretary General of NATO.
