Jens Stoltenberg is a Norwegian politician who in 2014 was appointed the 13th secretary general of NATO. As is the rule for NATO Secretaries General, he had attended the Bilderberg group prior to being appointed.[1][2]

Background

Jens Stoltenberg is son of former Foreign Minister and deep state operative Thorvald Stoltenberg.

Activities

Libya

As Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg was an important cheerleader of the war on Libya in 2011. Norway joined the alliance that intervened in Libya on alleged humanitarian grounds, and during the war dropped 567 bombs, the largest Norwegian war effort since World War II, and contributed directly to Stoltenberg later getting the prestigious position as Secretary General of NATO. In a conversation with a Swedish colleague, Stoltenberg justified the Libya bombing by saying that the war was "excellent training for the Norwegian Air Force".[3]

GAVI and Bill Gates

Stoltenberg has been an advocate for having all the world's children vaccinated. The first speech he gave in his second term as Prime Minister was during Norway's "Pharmaceutics days" in 2005 under the title "Vaccination against poverty." Stoltenberg was the director of the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization (GAVI) from 2002 to 2005 [4] and was awarded the Children's Health Award in 2005.

An international initiative, with the UK, the Gates Foundation and Norway in the lead, that GAVI received more than $3.7 billion until 2015 for their work against child mortality.[5] Stoltenberg was one of the key driving forces behind the initiative.

In his New Year speech on 1 January 2013, Stoltenberg spoke about vaccination of the world's children as a personal matter of the heart. "Small jabs are giving millions of children the gift of life. Simple medicines can save their mothers. The fact that all these mothers' and children's lives can be saved is—as I see it—a miracle of our time," Stoltenberg said in his speech.[6]

Opinions

“Two World Wars and the Cold War has taught us that there is no real security in Europe without a strong transatlantic bond.

Standing together in NATO, Europe and America will continue to keep the peace and protect our democratic way of life. As we have done for more than 70 years.

NATO is a defensive Alliance. We are not threatening Russia or anyone else.

But we will take all necessary measures to protect and defend all Allies.

This is why in response to Russia’s pattern of aggressive actions, we have been strengthening our deterrence and defence across the Alliance.

To avoid any miscalculation or misunderstanding about our ironclad commitment to defend each other.

So if Kremlin’s aim is to have less NATO on Russia’s borders, it will only get more NATO.”
Jens Stoltenberg (19 February 2022)  [7]

“We also have to understand that this is not about NATO moving into Asia, but instead about the fact that China is coming close to us.”
Jens Stoltenberg (January 2024)  [8]
