In its own words:
"The WSWS aims to meet the need, felt widely today, for an intelligent appraisal of the problems of contemporary society. It addresses itself to the masses of people who are dissatisfied with the present state of social life, as well as its cynical and reactionary treatment by the establishment media."
The World Socialist Web Site (WSWS) is published by the Trotskyite (Communist) International Committee of the Fourth International. While decidedly having its own angle on things, where the working class as a cliche is always ready to rise up and unite under its leadership, it also covers deep politics[1] and the subversion of "the left" by intelligence agencies and the establishment.
The WSWS became a vocal supporter of supranational deep state policies during Covid deep event, including lockdowns, medical passports and forced vaccinations through economic pressure.
Contents
#MeToo
The WSWS has concluded that the #MeToo movement as a McCarthyite witch-hunt with ulterior motives. David Walsh from the WSWS wrote:
The ostensible aim of this ongoing movement is to combat sexual harassment and assault, i.e., to bring about some measure of social progress. However, the repressive, regressive means resorted to—including unsubstantiated and often anonymous denunciations and sustained attacks on the presumption of innocence and [due process]] — give the lie to the campaign’s “progressive” claims. Such methods are the hallmark of an anti-democratic, authoritarian movement, and one, moreover, that deliberately seeks to divert attention from social inequality, attacks on the working class, the threat of war and the other great social and political issues of the day. Instead of bringing about an improvement in conditions, in fact, the #MeToo movement has helped undermine democratic rights, created an atmosphere of intimidation and fear and destroyed the reputations and careers of a significant number of artists and others.[2]
Identity politics
The WSWS also criticizes identity politics:
In reality, politics based on race, gender and sexuality has become a fundamental part of the Democratic Party’s efforts to divide workers and enrich a thin layer of the middle class who falsely present themselves as "representational" of the broad masses. But the truth is that workers, regardless of their gender or background, have no representation whatsoever in any branch of government. As the Democratic Party moves ever more sharply to the right, identity politics is used to give the party a left veneer, however thin it may be.[3]
COVID-19
The idea that all opposition to lockdowns and forced vaccination is far right. "Mandatory vaccinations are not an attack on democratic rights but a necessary tool in a range of scientific measures that must be fought for by the international working class to eliminate COVID-19."[4]
