Dawn Butler (born 3 November 1969) is a British Labour Party politician
She served as Shadow Secretary of State for Women and Equalities under Jeremy Corbyn from 2017 to 2020, and has been Member of Parliament (MP) for Brent Central since the 2015 UK General Election. Butler was MP for Brent South from the 2005 General Election until 2010.
Dawn Butler is standing for election as Deputy Leader of the Labour Party in the contest to succeed Tom Watson who resigned on 6 November 2019.[1]
Following the 2024 UK General Election, she is seeking to be chair of the Science, Innovation and Technology Committee, intending to tackle misinformation by social media companies.[2]
