A member of the Bilderberg/Steering committee until May 2014, honorary Chairman of the Trilateral Commission from 2010 until his death in 2018, he was Attorney General of Ireland in the 1980s, in the 1990s he was Director-General of the World Trade Organization for 2 years, followed by a decade as Chairman of Goldman Sachs.
