Around 1% of visitors to the Bilderberger have suffered premature deaths, some of them bizarre. As a comparison, attending the Bilderberg meeting is statistically about ten times more dangerous than visiting the most violent cities in the world. The death rate is comparable to the worst years of the Iraq War.

Over two dozen Bilderbergers have suffered untimely deaths, some of them bizarre. These include French Prime Minister Pierre Bérégovoy, who attended the 1992 Bilderberg, where Peter Carrington moderated a discussion entitled "Remarks of Pierre Bérégovoy, Prime Minister of France". He supposedly committed suicide in May 1993, a death which has been linked to another official suicide, that of the head of the French Gladio, François de Grossouvre‎.
