Mukden Incident

Full article: Stub class article Mukden Incident

In September 1931 Japan staged a false flag attack on its own railway line at Mukden. This was now powerful enough to cause serious damage to the railway line - as demonstrated by the fact that a train subsequently passed over the track without incident a few minutes later. No one was killed or injured in the attack. Nevertheless, Japan claimed that this provided sufficient justification for an invasion of the Chinese province of Manchuria.

Oil

Oil was discovered in Texas.
