Guido Rossi was an Italian corporate lawyer, including for the Agnelli family, financial regulator, and politician.[1] He attended the 1985 Bilderberg meeting.
Education
As a student of the Collegio Ghislieri he graduated in law at the University of Pavia in 1953. In June 1954 he obtained a Master of Law from Harvard,[2] where he met Henry Kissinger.
Career
He became a university professor of commercial law, comparative private law and philosophy of law in Trieste, Venice, Pavia and Milan. In 1981 he was appointed president of Consob, the government authority of Italy responsible for regulating the Italian securities- and stock market.
He was elected senator for the for the Italian Communist Party, later the Independent Left, in 1987, sitting until 1992. He was the promoter of antitrust legislation in Italy[3]. He later led Ferfin-Montedison and Telecom Italia. He was also columnist for the Sole 24 Ore.[3]
He also worked for Ifil, the holding company of the Agnelli family, as a business lawyer.[4]
For one year he protected the interests of the Dutch bank ABN Amro. In 2003 he defended the president of Capitalia Cesare Geronzi, involved in the Cirio and Parmalat scandals. In 2006 he was appointed extraordinary commissioner of the Italian Football Federation to manage the emergency situation created after the Calciopoli scandal. On 15 September 2006, after the resignation of Marco Tronchetti Provera, he was again appointed Chairman of Telecom Italia, a position he left on 6 April 2007. The following year he became a consultant to FIAT, in an attempt to revive the company in a sales crisis.[3] On 4 May 2011, he was appointed ethical guarantor of Consob, a position from which he resigned on 26 October 2012.[5][6]
