George Walker Bush, the 43rd President of the USA, is not to be confused with his father, George H. W. Bush, CIA operative and the 41st U.S. president. He is brother of Jeb Bush, former Governor of Florida. Investigative journalist Russ Baker found it so remarkable that some so lacking could reach such high office, that he decided to write a book about how he got the job - this became the highly recommended Family of Secrets, which looks in detail at Bush the elder.

Background

George Bush chatting with "Bandar Bush"

George Bush Jr. is son of a lifelong intelligence operative, George (H. W.) Bush Sr. He was sent to Yale university where (like his father and grandfather) he became a member of the Skull and Bones society. He went to Harvard Business school, but showed little aptitude for business. This did not stop him following the pattern set by his father, of using business as a cover for other activities.[1]

September the 11th, 2001

A handler informs George Bush that a second plane had crashed into the World Trade Center and that America is under attack. He continues the reading lesson with the children.[2][3]

Although US President at the time of the attacks and although he used the event as an excuse for a lot of blustering later on, George W. Bush appears not to been deliberately sidelined during the 9-11 event, notwithstanding the suggestions (for example, by Mark Gorton) that 9/11 was planned by his father). George W. was in a primary school in Florida when the events occurred, and after being informed that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center,[4] "he does not even turns his head, it is obvious he knew what was up, if he were really surprised his first reaction would have been to look in the eyes of the person whispering to him".[5] Bush continued to read a story about a goat to the class of primary children, reportedly because he didn't want to upset them. The US Secret Service also apparently saw no problem with leaving him where he was, strongly suggesting that they did not perceive the events of that day as a threat. Bush appears therefore to have been kept out of the way and out of the loop by his handlers.

His popularity, extremely low before the 9/11, rose dramatically in its aftermath, his inaction notwithstanding - a demonstration of the effectiveness of the strategy of tension.

War Crimes Indictment

Full article: George W. Bush/Torture Indictment

Bush was found guilty of war crimes, including the authorisation of torture, which is illegal under the United Nations Convention Against Torture which the USA has ratified. Former UN Special Rapporteur on Torture, Manfred Nowak has given expert opinion that Bush has no immunity as a former head of state. US attorney Vincent Bugliosi, forcefully argued in his 2008 book, The Prosecution of George W. Bush for Murder that since Bush intentionally misled Congress and the US population about the reasons for invading Iraq, under the felony-murder rule the deaths of over 4,000 American soldiers and 100,000 Iraqi civilians amount at the very least to second-degree murder. Bugliosi has argued for Bush's impeachment and offered to work with any US State's Attorney General interested in pursuing the prosecution.

Bush was tried in absentia and convicted by the Kuala Lumpur War Crimes Commission both for crimes against peace and conspiracy to commit war crimes, specifically torture, after the Iraq War and torture carried out at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay. No sentence was pronounced, but the tribunal referred their findings to the chief prosecutor at the International Court of Justice in the Hague.[6]

2004 US Presidential Election

Skull and Bones member George W. Bush won the 2004 US Presidential Election against his fellow bonesman John Kerry. Family of Secrets details how misdirection was used to handle the difficult question of Bush's missing military service records.

Later activities

Since 2009, Bush has received a total in excess of $15 million for giving speeches, sometimes for as much as $200,000 each.[7]

Jimmy Carter“Nowadays, because of the unwarranted invasion of Iraq by Bush and Blair, which was a completely unjust adventure based on misleading statements, and the lack of any effort to resolve the Palestinian issue, [there is] massive Islamic condemnation of the United States. (...) (American media organisations), have been cowed, because they didn't want to be unpatriotic. There has been a lack of inquisitive journalism. In fact, it's hard to think of a major medium in the United States that has been objective and fair and balanced, and critical when criticism was deserved”Jimmy Carter2004
Contadora Island“Surely you've heard the rumors about why Noriega was taken down and today rots in a U.S. prison."

"I've heard that he had cameras on Contadora Island." It was an infamous resort off Panama's coast, a "safe haven" where U.S. businessmen could treat politicians to every conceivable vice. I had visited—and used—Contadora several times during my EHM days.

"You heard who got caught by those cameras?"

"Rumors that George W. was photographed doing coke and having kinky sex during the time his father was president." There was a theory in Latin America that Noriega had used incriminating photos of the younger Bush and his cronies to convince the older Bush, the president, to side with the Panamanian administration on key issues. In retaliation, H. W. invaded Panama and hustled Noriega off to a Miami prison. The building housing Noriega's confidential files had been incinerated by bombs; as a side effect, more than two thousand innocent civilians were burned to death in Panama City that day in December 1989. Many people claimed that this theory offered the only logical explanation for violently attacking a nation without an army and that posed no threat to the United States.
Jose nodded. "From where I sit, those rumors ring awfully true. I've experienced things that take them out of the realm of fantasy." He cocked his head. "So have you." He paused, looking around. "And it terrifies me."

Jörg Haider“Asked about the impression that Saddam is better for him than Bush, Haider said: "The choice is really hard for me. Both have been at war with international law and committed human rights violations. The one is lucky enough to command a world power, hence the power to write the laws, while the other has been a weak dictator"”Jörg Haider
US/2000 Presidential Election“There was one exact moment, in fact, when I knew for sure that Al Gore would Never be President of the United States, no matter what the experts were saying — and that was when the whole Bush family suddenly appeared on TV and openly scoffed at the idea of Gore winning Florida. It was Nonsense, said the Candidate, Utter nonsense. . .Anybody who believed Bush had lost Florida was a Fool. The Media, all of them, were Liars & Dunces or treacherous whores trying to sabotage his victory. . . Here was the whole bloody Family laughing & hooting & sneering at the dumbness of the whole world on National TV. The old man was the real tip-off. The leer on his face was almost frightening. It was like looking into the eyes of a tall hyena with a living sheep in its mouth. The sheep's fate was sealed, and so was Al Gore's.”Hunter S. Thompson
