Questioning of the UK Government's 7/7 Narrative
In 2006, The Independent published on article which, while supporting the broad outline of the official narrative of the 7/7 London bombings, also remarked that "doubts remain over the official account". It quoted Nafeez Mosaddeq Ahmed and observed that “There are some bewildering gaps in the [government’s] account of 7/7... even the nature of the explosives used in the bombing is unclear.”[2]
Support for Bilderberg Official Narrative
In June 2015, it echoed the Bilderberg's official narrative that "There are no minutes taken of the meetings, and no reports are made of any conclusions reached. No votes are taken and no policies proscribed."[3] This unsourced claim (as one commenter asked "If it's so secret and no journalist or anyone else can gain access, how the hell does the op-ed know?") is directly contradicted by a statement of Willy Claes (who attended in 1994) who stated on on Belgian radio that each participant is given a report and they are "considered to use this report in setting their policies in the environments in which they affect".[4]
Ownership
In 2017, Sultan Muhammad Abuljadayel bought a a 30% stake in the Independent.[5]
