DescriptionThe 41st Bilderberg, held in Greece

The 1993 Bilderberg Meeting was the 41st such meeting and had 114 participants from 18 European countries, the United States and Canada.[1] It was chaired by Peter Carrington and was held at the Nafsika Astir Palace Hotel in Vouliagmeni, Greece. The next meeting was the 1994 Bilderberg.

Agenda

The 1993 Bilderberg Agenda has been leaked and is now online.[1]

1. Prospects For The Former Soviet Republics

The moderator was Christoph Bertram and the panelists were Volker Rühe and Lord Owen.

2. Current Events: Former Yugoslavia

The moderator was Peter Carrington and the panelist was David Owen.

3. Restoring Confidence In Leadership And Institutions

The moderator was Vernon Jordan and the panelists were James Hoagland and William Rees-Mogg.

4. Prospects For Global Trade

The moderator was Peter Sutherland and the panelists were Arthur Dunkel (who had been Director-General of the World Trade Organization since its inauguration in 1980) and Lane Kirkland. Peter Sutherland took over the post of WGO DG some ten weeks later.

5. U.S. Domestic Policy Concerns

The moderator was Renato Ruggiero and the panelist Vernon Jordan.

6. The Outlook For Japan's Economy

The moderator was James Wolfensohn and the panelists was Kenneth Courtis.

7. Cost Of Indifference Toward The Former Soviet Union

The moderator was John C. Whitehead and the panelists were Rodric Braithwaite and William Odom.

8. Current Events: Italy

The moderator was Eric Roll and the panelist was Renato Ruggiero.

9. Foreign Policy Concerns Of The Clinton Administration

The moderator was Thierry de Montbrial and the panelist was Samuel Lewis.

10. Crisis Management

The moderator was Peter Carrington and the panelist was Manfred Wörner.

Notes To Participants

As well as a list of participants, an 8-page "Notice to Participants" was issue to the 1993 participants, clarifying logistics and setting out basic Bilderberg policy, such as underlining the Chatham House rule of confidentiality, confirming English as the "official language" etc.[2]
