Connections
As is standard for NATO Secretaries General, Anders Fogh Rasmussen attended the Bilderberg group prior to being given the job (in 2000, 2003 & 2014).[1]
Political Career
During the run-up to the 2003 Iraq War, he, as Prime Minister, publicly declared that Iraq had WMD. The result was that Denmark was the only country to officially declare war on Iraq, as part of the "Coalition of the Willing".
Exposure
In February 2004, a whistle-blower Frank Grevil, Major in the Danish military intelligence service FET, disclosed that Fogh Rasmussen was advised by FET before the war that Iraq did not possess WMD. As a result of this exposure Grevil was convicted to 6 months in jail while Fogh Rasmussen continued as Prime Minister for a second term.[2]
Post NATO
After leaving his post as NATO Secretary General in 2014, he founded the consultant PR firm Rasmussen Global, which for an undisclosed sum became advisor to Ukrainian coup president Poroshenko.(2001-2009).[3]
For an undisclosed sum, he became advisor to Goldman-Sachs, to solve a public dispute over sales of stakes in Dong, Denmark’s state-controlled power producer, to the American investment banking firm.[4]
In 2017, he received the America Award of the Italy–USA Foundation.
He is on the board of NewsGuard, a spooky outfit offering browser extensions warning against fake news. This extension might become a core part of Microsoft's Edge mobile browser in the future.[5]
