Castries is a French Businessman with a multiplicity of deep state connections. He who got his start in politics as a member of the French Treasury in 1984. He is a founder of Institut Montaigne, a French think tank, through which he has spoken very highly of Emmanuel Macron.[4]
He was selected Young leader several times by the French-American Foundation, in 1994[5], 1995[6], 1998[7] (1996 and 1997 unknown), meaning that he had closer ties to the foundation than most other Young Leaders.
