Le Cercle/Meetings

Description | A list of the known Cercle meetings. |
---|
Le Cercle Meetings strictly follow the Chatham House rule,[1] i.e. they are off the record. This presents a problem for the below list, which is very far from complete. The current schedule is believed to be (as stated on their short lived website) "semiannually"[2], but David Rockefeller states in his autobiography that their meetings used to be thrice yearly.[3] Little is known of most of these meetings, although some guest lists from the mid 1980s have been leaked (e.g. Le Cercle/1982 (Wildbad Kreuth), Le Cercle/1983 (Bonn), Le Cercle/1984 (Capetown)).

History
For its first 15 years, Le Cercle was an exclusively European affair. However, after involvement with figures from the US deep state, a US meeting first took place in the Rockefeller Center in New York on 6th December 1968.[4] The current pattern is to alternate between Washington DC and Europe (or occasionally elsewhere).
Other meetings
Other conferences have been held in Bucharest and Frankfurt.[5]
