A deep state faction is a permanent or semi-permanent group of affiliated deep state operatives. In some ways it is the deep political equivalent of a political party, although lacking the public profile, and generally operating under strict secrecy, operatives may easily be members of multiple deep state factions. The term is a relatively new one and still somewhat fluid in its meaning.

Relationship to deep state milieux

A deep state milieu is an environment which provides for deep political intrigue is carried out by deep state actors and deep politicians of different factions.

Longevity

Some deep state factions are personal affairs, and so rise and fall with the particular individual(s) at their heart. Others are much more long lived, such as dynasties which can span centuries.

Alliances

Like political parties, deep state factions have often vied for control over a nation state, although their common fear of exposure (and the increasing effectiveness of leaks) may be lessening this tendency.

Dixie Mafia	Criminal organizations composed mainly of white Southerners and operating primarily throughout the Southern United States, interwoven with politics and owners of legitimate businesses.
Hanns Seidel Foundation	An important group in international parapolitical manipulation, active in Latin America, Fiji and other places.
Institute for Statecraft	The UK MoD/FCO funded group that ran the ironically named Integrity Initiative, exposed in 2018 by 'Anonymous' as an organ of the UK/Deep state
Integrity Initiative	"Military-directed" "extremely shady covert disinformation and anti-democratic deep state outfit" that promotes Russophobic propaganda. Exposed by a set of 7 caches of documents, posted online. Later deleted its website.
Milner Group	The Milner Group was a key UK deep state group at the turn of the 20th century. It was exposed by Carroll Quigley, who claims that although of great importance, it was particularly difficult to track due to its control of the UK historical record.
