Memorable Quotes

  • On May 12, 1996, Albright defended UN sanctions against Iraq on a 60 Minutes segment in which Lesley Stahl asked her "We have heard that half a million children have died. I mean, that's more children than died in Hiroshima. And, you know, is the price worth it?" and Albright replied "we think the price is worth it."[1][2]
  • Following the failure of the Rambouillet peace talks in February 1999, several Commercially-controlled media outlets quoted a senior source in Madeleine Albright's US delegation as follows: "We intentionally set the bar too high for the Serbs to comply. They need some bombing, and that’s what they are going to get" [3]
