The 1971 Bilderberg Meeting was the 21st such meeting and had participants from 12 Western European countries, the United States, Canada and "various international organizations". It was held at the Woodstock Inn, Woodstock, Vermont, United States. The 92 guests included 11 business executives, 15 politicians, 9 financiers, 9 editors/journalists and 5 academics.
The 1971 Bilderberg Conference Report has been leaked and is now online. There were two topics on the agenda.
1. The Contribution of Business in Dealing with Current Problems of Social Instability
This topic had working papers from US and Italy.
2. The Possibility of a Change of the American Role in the World, and its Consequences
Exceptionally, this topic had three working papers from a single Bilderberg Steering Committee member, Dennis Healey. He spelled out the "Nixon Doctrine" a paper on Deluded Strategies in the Twilight of the Cold War (originally published in The Times), The Nixon Doctrine and the Future of Europe and Possibility of a Change in the U.S. Role in the World, and Its Consequences.
The meeting was opened by The Prince of the Netherlands who read a letter from Professor John Pesmazoglou, who had been invited but was not given a passport by the Greek government, so did not attend.
