Italian Christian Democracy manager who went to the 1971 Bilderberg. Involved in European integration. TLC.

Giuseppe Glisenti was one of the founders of the Christian Democrat Party[1]. A progressive Catholic, he became a manager in government corporations such as the public holding company IRI, the public broadcaster RAI, and the armaments company Finmeccanica. [2] He was a Bilderberger, as was his wife Marcella Glisenti.

Background

Glisenti might be from the Brescia armaments family of the same name.

The Glisenti was a very Catholic family, but on the left-wing of the party. His wife Marcella Glisenti was also a progressive Catholic.

His son Paolo Glistenti became a journalist on economic pages at Corriere della Sera,and General Commissioner Italy of the Expo 2020 Dubai[3][4]

Career

During World War 2 he was an officer in the Italian Army, but participated in resistance activities after the 1943 armistice .[5] He was one of the founders of the Christian Democrat Party.

He edited the magazine Cronache Sociali (1947-51), a fortnightly journal of sociology and politics published in Rome. The magazine under Glisenti represented until is closure in 1951, the date of its last publication, the most progressive and reformist position of Italian political Catholicism.[6]

Giuseppe Glisenti was between the 50s and 80s an important Christian Democrat manager close to Romano Prodi.`

He became a manager of government corporations such as the public holding company IRI from 1955 until 1971[7], which played a pivotal role in the Italian economic miracle of the 1950s and 1960s, where he led the Labor Problems Service.[8]

Giuseppe Glisenti was involved in European integration.[9] He was on the Italian delegation to conference in connection to the Schuman Plan.

He was Director-General of RAI for 5 months in 1977[10]

In 1964 Glisenti founded with Guido Rossi and Sandro Gavazzi the Anipla (Italian National Association for Automation) and in 1965 the AISRI (Italian Association of Studies in Industrial Relations)[11].

He was president of Finmeccanica in 1989,[12][13][14] until 1995.[15]

He was also at Ifi,the holding company of the Agnelli family, and at Bonomi Bolchini Group as Vice President.[16]
