DescriptionThe 24th Bilderberg Meeting, 98 guests

The 1975 Bilderberg Meeting was the 24th such meeting and had participants from 14 European countries, the United States, Canada and "several international organizations".[1] It was held at the Golden Dolphin Hotel, Cesme, Turkey. The 1976 Bilderberg was cancelled due to Prince Bernhard's troubles with the Lockheed/Bribery scandals, so the next Bilderberg meeting was the 1977 Bilderberg. The 99 guests included 14 business executives, 31 politicians, 4 financiers, 15 editors/journalists and 13 academics.

Agenda

The 1975 Bilderberg Conference Report has been leaked and is now online. There was only a single topic on the agenda.[1]

1. Inflation: Its Economic, Social and Political Implications

John J. Deutsch started this topic with a paper entitled Inflation, 1950-75: A Social and Political Perspective. The second working paper, by Herbert Giersch, was entitled International Aspects of Inflation. The third paper, by J. Zijlstra, dealt with Inflation and its Impact on Society.[2]

2. Recent International Political Developments:

A. The present status and prospects of efforts to resolve the Arab-Israeli conflict, and the effect on relations among NATO members

B. Other recent developments affecting the relations among NATO countries

Activities

Margaret Thatcher had been elected leader of the UK Conservative party in February. She attended the Bilderberg for the first time in 1975 and Dennis Healey recalls that she very favourably impressed the group.

Absence

The meeting was opened by The Prince of the Netherlands who read a letter from Professor John Pesmazoglou, who had been invited but was not given a passport by the Greek government, so did not attend.
