First Mayor Olaf Scholz later became Chancellor of Germany, despite (or because of) the Cum-Ex corruption affair involving the Warburg bank. | |
Often held by a Bilderberger |
The Mayor of Hamburg is the leader of the city senate in the German city-state of Hamburg. Since 1861, the state has been governed by the ten-member Senate, which had previously been called the council. It is headed by the First Mayor of Hamburg as the President of the Senate. The deputy is the Second Mayor.
The office of the First Mayor corresponds to that of a Minister-president of other German states.
