La Francophonie is an international organisation made up of countries and regions where the people speak French. Members are also countries with an affinity with French culture.
Expansion
Some countries could also join the Organisation internationale de la Francophonie on the basis of being part of the French colonial empire, including Algeria and Syria.

Central African Republic | Unstable, poor African country. They speak Sango and French in the CAR. |
Chad | Arabic and French speaking desert nation in North Africa. Formerly part of the French Empire, Chad has seen instability in recent years. |
Comoros | Obscure island nation off the east coast of Africa. A nation formed at a crossroads of different civilisations, The Comoros is noted for its diverse culture. |

Democratic Republic of the Congo | A large country in central Africa, the majority of the former 'Belgian Congo'. |
Djibouti | small country in East Africa. |
Dominican Republic | Caribbean country; shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. |
Egypt | Strategically important due particularly to the Suez canal. |
Equatorial Guinea | Very small country in Central Africa, between Gabon and Cameroon. Rich in oil. |
France | A European nation, former colonial power, permanent seat on the UNSC |
Gabon | French speaking country on the west coast of Africa. |
Greece | "In 2006... the third biggest arms importer after China and India." |
Guinea | French speaking country in West Africa. |
Guinea-Bissau | Portuguese ex-colony "narco-state" in West Africa. |
Haiti | Caribbean country; shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. The poorest country in North America, Haiti has faced natural disasters, economic crises and political instablity for many years. |
Laos | A socialist state and the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia. |
Lebanon | Religiously diverse Middle Eastern country. |
Luxembourg | One of the richest and smallest sovereign states in the world. |
Madagascar | A large island off southern Africa |
Mali | Former French colony in West Africa |
Mauritania | African country that banned slavery in 2007. |
Mauritius | Island nation in the Indian Ocean. Now a tax haven. |
