Fabius-Gayssot Act

Full article: Fabius Gayssot Act 1990

Fabius' actions were decisive in ensuring the passage of the infamous anti free speech 'Fabius Gayssot Act'. He undertook the redrafting of the prospective act from its original sponsor, the Communist Deputy Jean-Claude Gayssot. He then lead a very effective propaganda campaign, based on a May 1990 Jewish grave desecration in Carpentras, Sothern France, that persuaded a reluctant National Assembly to approve the new law on 13 July 1990. In April 1991 Professor Robert Faurisson became the first person to be convicted under the new law. [2]
