Christoph Bertram is a German journalist, member of the Bilderberg Steering Committee and possible deep state operative.

Background

Bertram studied law and political science in Berlin, Bonn and Paris, and became assessor in 1967.[1]

Career

After his studies, he became a trainee in the Directorate-General for External Relations of the European Commission and then went to the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London as study director. Under Defense Minister (later Chancellor) Helmut Schmidt, he helped expand new headquarters of the Defence Ministry. In 1974 he became director of the IISS, in 1982 he moved the big weekly newspaper [Die Zeit]], where he worked as editor of the politics section and as diplomatic correspondent. Bertram was a member of the editorial board of Foreign Policy Magazine, Washington, D.C.

In 1997 he became director of the think tank German Institute for International and Security Affairs.

From 2005 he held a visiting professorship at the SAIS Bologna Center of Johns Hopkins University. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of the Berlin Institute for Population and Development, which develops "Concepts for solving demographic problems."

Connections

He was a member of the Bilderberg Steering Committee and from 1978 to 1998 regular participants in these conferences. He also active in the Bergedorf Round Table, where since 1961, high-ranking international politicians and experts have been discussing central questions of European foreign policy in a small and confidential group.
