Karl Lauterbach is a German politician from the Social Democratic Party of Germany. He rose to sudden prominence during COVID-19, where he received huge attention in corporate media as a moralistic 'Dr. Doom' promoting the official narrative. He became Minister of Health in December 2021.

Lauterbach conducted drug studies on behalf of the pharmaceutical industry. He received more than 800,000 euros in third-party funding for this in 2000 alone. He was also involved in a study on the fat-lowering drug Lipobay - the drug that the manufacturer Bayer took off the market in 2001 because of fatal incidents. "At the time, Lauterbach ignored the early indications that Lipobay was possibly dangerous, just as his clients did.”[1]

Lauterbach was a member of the supervisory board of Rhön-Klinikum AG, a listed company that operates 54 hospitals and 35 medical care centers and generated sales of 2.32 billion euros in 2009. The Rhön Group is, among other things, the first private operator in Germany to take over a university hospital. Since 2006, the Gießen-Marburg University Hospital therefore no longer belonged to the universities of Gießen and Marburg and thus to the public sector, but to Bank of America, an asset manager called Fidelity Investments, and the investment company Franklin Templeton Investments. Lauterbach's remuneration was 55,000 euros (2008), 59,000 euros (2009)[2] and 62,000 euro (2011).[3]

Political career

The new SPD parliamentarians lined up for a photo shoot. Only one of them wore a face mask (COVID prophet of doom Karl Lauterbach). At the same time school children in the country are forced to wear them all day.

In 2017, Lauterbach was selected to receive support from the campaign organization Campact,[4][5] presented as a "progressive" candidate and "first voice against the Glyphosate lobby"., despite his parliamentary voting record voting the opposite[6].

After the 2021 German parliamentary election, he was a part of his party's delegation in the working group on health in the coalition negotiations. He was then appointed Health Minister in the new government.[7]

Not himself jabbed

In August 2022, as Lauterbach worked on introducing mandatory injections every 3 months for citizens to keep their human rights, he accidentally revealed he himself had not received an injection for 271 days, since November 2021.[8]

This reveal happened at the roll-out of the CovPassCheck app, when the minister held his digital vaccination card and QR code up to the cameras at a press conference and was officially and extensively filmed and photographed. Like millions of other certificates, it can be checked legally with just a few clicks using CovPassCheck. According to the system, his last vaccination was in November 2021, and was a "booster". However, at that time, a fourth injection was not used, at least officially.

When a journalist a few weeks before wanted to know how long ago Lauterbach was last vaccinated, the Ministry of Health refused to provide this information, saying it was private.[8]

Ex-wife

His ex-wife (married 1996-2004) Dr. Angela Spelsberg, argued with him for years about the maintenance of their four children. In a 2013 interview, she stated: “He always puts his social conscience in the foreground in public. In my private life, however, I got to know him from a completely different perspective. I think what's going on in his head is questionable...I am extremely disappointed in Mr. Lauterbach. I fear that the public also overestimates his moral suitability".[9]
