The 1973 meeting of the Bilderberg Group occurred five months prior to the extensive oil price rises brought about by the Yom Kippur War. Leaked minutes from the meeting indicate that participants discussed a 400% increase in the price of oil, and created a "plan [on] how to manage the about-to-be-created flood of oil dollars."[2] Among the 1973 participants were the CEOs of Royal Dutch Shell, British Petroleum (BP), Total S.A., ENI, Exxon, as well as significant banking interests and individuals such as Baron Edmond de Rothschild and David Rockefeller, as well as Henry Kissinger,[3] then US Secretary of State.[4] Sheikh Yamani has stated that he "is 100% sure that the Americans were behind the increase in the price of oil" in 1973.[5]
