Carole Cadwalladr is a British investigative journalist and features writer for The Observer and formerly worked at The Daily Telegraph.[1]
Carole Cadwalladr rose to international prominence in 2018 when she exposed the Facebook–Cambridge Analytica data scandal.

TED talk
In an April 2019 talk at the Technology, Entertainment and Design (TED) conference in Vancouver, journalist Carole Cadwalladr dug into one of the most perplexing events in recent times: the UK's super-close 2016 vote to leave the European Union. Tracking the result to a barrage of misleading Facebook ads targeted at vulnerable Brexit swing voters -- and linking the same players and tactics to the 2016 US presidential election -- Cadwalladr called out the "gods of Silicon Valley" for being on the wrong side of history and asked: are free and fair elections a thing of the past?[2]
Nothing but silence
On 18 April 2019, Carole Cadwalladr tweeted:
- "This is not democracy. Lies spread in darkness paid for with cash from God knows where." Two days ago I accused Facebook of breaking democracy. @TEDchris told them they were free to respond at any time. So far? Nothing but silence...[3]
