The "Davos of the Communications Industry." Henry Kissinger "took a great interest and played an active role" in it.
Henry Kissinger "took a great interest and played an active role" in the Paley Media Council until his death in 2023.

The Paley Media Council, before 2007 known as the Museum of Television & Radio's International Council is "a membership community comprised of the world’s most important entertainment, media, and technology executives".[1] The Council consists of the Trustees of the Museum and key members of the global media community.[2], and has held a yearly summit since 1995.

The Museum of Television & Radio's International Council Summit was first held in 1995 in Rome, Italy, hosting "an unprecedented gathering of the world's media leaders." over the years, it has been held in China, South Africa, Germany, Austria, India, Monaco, Spain, France, Turkey, Mexico, and the United Kingdom.

Venezuelan media billionaire Adriana Cisneros with president and CEO of PBS, Pat Mitchell in 2011.[3].

The Paley International Council Summit, co-chaired by Dr. Kissinger has come to be regarded as one of the most influential gatherings in the industry, bringing together global dignitaries, chief executives, industry thought leaders, and the most innovative trendsetters from the world’s most important media companies, to advance the exchange of ideas and to foster a sense of community amongst peers.

In 2002, the MTR launched its Media Center (now Paley Media Council), a membership organization that brings together senior media executives for off-the-record discussions of critical issues impacting all aspects of media. [4]

Henry Kissinger

Henry Kissinger "took a great interest and played an active role" in it until his death in 2023. When inviting someone to attend, he described it as:

The Museum's International Council is comprised of the most senior leaders in the media and communications industries from around the world. Each year the Museum brings together the members of its International Council and Board of Trustees for a two-day meeting where issues of global importance are addressed, and there are opportunities for social interaction and informal discussion. There is no comparable meeting that draws together these most influential media leaders as well as the heads of state. The Council meeting this year will be held in Vienna, October 28-30, 2001. In keeping with the nature of previous meetings, Chancellor Wolfgang Schussel and President Thomas Klestil of Austria will participate in the conference. (Last year the Council met in London with Tony Blair, and the previous year with Jacques Chirac and Lionel Jospin in Paris.) Indeed, L'Express has called this meeting the "Davos of the Communications Industry."[5]
