The Organisation of American States or the OAS is a continental organisation that was founded on 30 April 1948, for the purposes of regional solidarity and cooperation among its member states. Headquartered in the United States capital Washington, the OAS's members are the 35 independent states of North and South America.
As of 26 May 2015, the Secretary General of OAS is Luis Almagro.[1]

Bolivia | Mountainous country in South America, a large producer of cocaine. Formerly part of the Spanish Empire. |

Canada | If tar sands are counted, Canada possesses the 3rd largest oil reserves of any nation state. |
Chile | Spanish-speaking MEDC in South America. It occupies a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes to the east, and the Pacific Ocean to the west. |
Colombia | Colombia is an important state in the trafficking of cocaine to North America. |
Costa Rica | An armyless country between Nicaragua and Panama |
Dominican Republic | Caribbean country; shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti. |
Ecuador | Offered asylum to Julian Assange. |
El Salvador | A small Spanish-speaking nation state in Central America. Brutal CIA proxy war in the 1980s |
Grenada | A Caribbean island, that had a coup in the 1980s. |
Guatemala | Country in Central America. High rates of poverty, crime, drug cartels, and instability. |
Guyana | The only UK colony on the mainland on South America. |
Haiti | Caribbean country; shares the island of Hispaniola with the Dominican Republic. The poorest country in North America, Haiti has faced natural disasters, economic crises and political instablity for many years. |
Honduras | Central American country; formerly part of the Spanish Empire. |
Jamaica | Caribbean island |
Mexico | "Poor Mexico, so far from God and so close to the United States!" |
