David Lammy is an English Labour Party politician who was appointed UK/Foreign Secretary following Labour's landslide victory in the UK/General election/2024.[1]

Education

Born in Holloway, north London, Lammy attended The King's School, Peterborough. He studied law at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London and was called to the bar in 1994. He later studied for a Master of Laws degree at Harvard University, becoming the first black Briton to study at Harvard Law School.

Career

David Lammy became Member of Parliament (MP) for Tottenham following the 2000 Tottenham by-election,[2] and is Shadow Foreign Secretary in Keir Starmer's Shadow Cabinet since November 2021.[3]

In December 2021, he apologised for nominating Jeremy Corbyn for leader at a Jewish festival.[4]

Vox Political tweeted:

This Site has praised David Lammy in the past – particularly over his defence of the Windrush generation of UK citizens the Tories tried to deny and deport. But his latest outburst deserves no support at all. It shows that he is a two-faced fairweather friend who says only what he thinks will help him. We already have a Boris Johnson for that kind of behaviour – and it belongs in the Tory Party, not Labour.[5]

Political opinions

NATO

David Lammy is one of the biggest supporters of NATO in the House of Commons.[6]

Israeli war crimes

Forced displacement is a war crime. What David Lammy is describing here are war crimes.
So why is David Lammy & the UK government continuing to support and supply the Israeli regime that's committing these war crimes?[8]

The ball is now back in the court of the UN General Assembly, which requested the Opinion. The General Assembly now should move to suspend Israel’s membership of the United Nations. That is the next project on which I shall be working.

They are genocide deniers. They are enablers of genocide. They are conspirators in genocide, just like those who preceded them in the British government."
Document:You can’t arm a genocidal state into moderation. So why does the West keep trying?Article4 September 2024Jonathan CookWestern politicians and media are never going to admit that Israel is carrying out a genocide in Gaza. The moment they do, the veil of illusions fostered for decades about Israel - designed to conceal the West’s complicity in Israeli crimes - would be torn away. In committing a genocide, a state crosses a threshold. It cannot be armed into moderation. Nor can it be reasoned into peacemaking. It must be aggressively isolated and sanctioned.
