Edcuation
Jean de Belot is a graduate of the Centre de Formation des Journalistes, and began his working career in 1983. Successively a journalist for La Tribune de l'Économie then a senior reporter for Le Figaro, he joined the financial newspaper Les Échos in 1990, of which he becomes editor-in-chief. In 1998, he became editor-in-chief of the economic pages of Le Figaro, then managing editor of the paper, where he succeeded Franz-Olivier Giesbert.
He left the company in 2005 after a series of conflicts with the new shareholder, the Dassault group. He was a columnist on RTL and hosted the program l'Invité de l'Économie on LCI. He regularly appears on BFM in the program Les Experts de l'Économie. From mid-2005 to the end of 2007, he was vice-president-partner of Euro-RSCG C&O, the main consultancy network of the Havas group.
