Career

In August 2015, The Guardian reported that "Pentagon chief Ashton Carter, backed by powerful US military officers, have withheld support for sending [Shaker] Aamer back to the UK."

In October 2015, announcing the award to Northrop Grumman of the contract to build a fleet of stealthy planes known as the Long Range Strike Bomber, valued at nearly $60 billion, Ashton B. Carter said the program represents a “technological leap” that will allow the United States to “remain dominant.”
