Education
Murmokaitė studied German and Romance Studies at Vilnius University from 1977 to 1982 during the Soviet era. After Lithuanian independence in 1991, she from 1992 to 1993 studied Public Administration at the Monterey Institute of International Studies on a Muskie Scholarship. She then received a Chevening scholarship and continued her education in diplomacy and security policy at the University of Birmingham.[1]
Career
Murmokaitė was employed by the Lithuanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in March 1994. After working as a consultant, she took over the management of the western European department in January 1996. In January 1998, Murmokaitė moved to the Lithuanian Embassy in Italy, before heading the Department of Policy Planning at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in February 2001. From April 2003 to August 2004 she was Director of the Americas, Africa , Asia and Oceania Division.[1]
Murmokaitė was deputy to Gediminas Šerkšnys and Dalius Čekuolis at the Permanent Mission of Lithuania to the United Nations in New York between August 2004 and July 2008. In August [2008]], Murmokaitė was appointed ambassador and worked for Foreign Ministers Petras Vaitiekūnas and Vygaudas Ušackas. In October 2009, she became Director of the Department's United Nations, International Organizations and Human Rights Division.[1]
