Staffan de Mistura is an Italian-Swedish diplomat, United Nations official and former member of the Italian government. From 2014 to 2019 he was the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria.
He is on the Senior Advisory Board of the NATO Defense College Foundation.[1]
His father, Emilio de Mistura, was an agent for the west-German BND to the Vatican in Rome.[2]
