Novara Media (often shortened to Novara)[1] is a left-wing independent,[2] alternative media organisation based in the United Kingdom.

History

Novara Media was founded in 2011 by James Butler and Aaron Bastani and is a trading name of Thousand Hands Ltd, a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, with an office and studio in south-east London.

Own words

Novara Media is an independent media organisation addressing the issues that are set to define the 21st century, from a crisis of capitalism to racism and climate change. Within that context our goal is a simple one: to tell stories and provide analysis shaped by the political uncertainties of the age, elevating critical perspectives you’re unlikely to find elsewhere. Driven to build a new media for a different politics, our journalism is always politically committed; rather than seeking to moderate between two sides of a debate, our output actively intends to feed back into political action.[3]

Another view

On 2 May 2024, Mr Tressell posted on X:

Novara turns on everybody just as they seem to be getting somewhere:

Now they turn on George Galloway.

See a pattern?[4]

Professor David Miller responded:

Yes, and the reason Novara turns on anyone getting anywhere on the left is that Novara are a fraud.

The deeper question, though, is:

Is Novara an op?[5]

Still a Keir-liever?

Still A Keir-liever?

After sacking Rebecca Long-Bailey, apologising to antisemitism ‘whistleblowers’ and dropping numerous campaign pledges, much of Labour’s left is in despair about Keir Starmer. However, Paul Mason is still on board with the new Labour leader. On 29 July 2020, Novara Media's Michael Walker and Dalia Gebrial ask him why.[8]

Corbyn suspended

Corbyn suspended from the party

On 29 October 2020, Keir Starmer suspended former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn from the party. What the hell happens now?!

With Michael Walker, Aaron Bastani and Rivkah Brown.[9]

Assange extradition refused

Assange extradition refused

On Monday 4 January 2021 at the Old Bailey, Magistrate Vanessa Baraitser ruled that Julian Assange should not be extradited to the United States on charges of espionage and computer hacking.

Yet despite that verdict the Judgment arguably represented a blow to freedom of the press - with the Judge accepting the substance of the case made by the US State Department.

On 5 January 2021 on Downstream, Aaron Bastani is joined by Yanis Varoufakis, former Greek finance minister and prominent supporter of Julian Assange during his time in prison, as they discuss the meaning of the outcome and what next for the founder of Wikileaks.[10]

Big Tech censorship

Gary McQuiggin the head of video at Novara Media on deplatforming. Is censorship great until it affects me?[11]

On 26 October 2021, their YouTube Channel was briefly deleted.[12] This was hypocritical as they have encouraged and even defended internet censorship in the past.[13]

COVID-19

Andrew Bridgen: "Wacko Tory MP FINALLY Suspended"

Pro official narrative on COVID 19. Only Conspiracy theorist cranks notice patterns when it comes to COVID-19/Premature deaths.

22 July 2020Justin SchlosbergThe fact that the Labour Party is now settling libel cases brought by both John Ware and the Labour 'whistleblowers' is remarkable, not least because there is meant to be an ongoing internal inquiry into the leaked internal report, whose findings have now effectively been prejudged. But I’ve been told this will cost the party close to half a million in damages and costs.

27 July 2021Oliver EagletonIf Keir Starmer was always unlikely to stand by his ten pledges and retain the bulk of the 2017 manifesto, some hoped he would at least bring a slickness and efficiency to LOTO that was missing under Jeremy Corbyn. After the suspension debacle, this is a hope that few can cling to.

2 March 2021Oliver EagletonKeir Starmer is sometimes praised for being an outsider in the world of politics (or mocked as too lawyerly and insufficiently political). But in reality, much of his work as Director of Public Prosecutions blurred the boundaries between prosecutor and politician – following the dictates of the Cameron coalition, negotiating with foreign officials on its behalf, and dropping or pursuing cases according to its interests.
