Anti-free speech concept. A part of censorship, particularly on social media.

Deplatforming is an tactic used by advocates of censorship. It can also be a sneaky tactic to bolster the credibility and number of viewers of preferred "independent" outlets.[1]

Social media

Twitter banned 70,000 accounts "related to QAnon.

Prevention

In September 2021, Texas introduced a new law to prevent deplatforming on social media.

Boris Johnson will introduce the Higher Education (Freedom of Speech) Bill in 2021 to prevent deplatforming. Those opposed claim the law will protect racism, antisemitism etc.[2]

Support

Owen Jones supports deplatforming and opposes free speech.

Deplatforming is used to silence dissent and shut down debate.
