Modern Flat Earth groups are organizations that promote the belief that the Earth is flat. Some adherents are serious and some are not. In the more modern context these groups date from the middle of the 20th century. Wikipedia notes that:[1] "those who are serious are often motivated by religion or conspiracy theories".

Official Narrative
According to Wikipedia (who always tells the truth) the concept of a Flat Earth is an archaic (as late as the 1940's the conception of a Flat Earth was still being taught in American schools) and scientifically disproven (many scientific experiments have been performed and explained in Eric Dubay's '200 proofs Earth is not a Spinning Ball' however corporate media ignores them, much like they ignore false claims of climate change and rising sea levels) conception of the Earth's shape as a plane or disk. Many ancient cultures subscribed to a flat-Earth cosmography. The model has undergone a recent resurgence as a conspiracy theory.[2]
Opening to online Censorship
In the 2010s, advocates and organizers of internet censorship of sensitive issues for the deep state often used corporate banning or shadowbanning of Flat Earth proponents as a soft start to gain public acceptance for a broader censorship[3][4].
Youtube
At some point after 2013, when Obama equated climate change deniers to members of the "Flat Earth Society",[5][6] YouTube saw a surge in videos that promoted this thinking. Like Elsagate, the Youtube system made recommendations for these videos on a noticeable scale out of nowhere, but most likely primarily for those who watched conspiracy videos before.[7]
Controlled opposition?
While the Flat Earth Society straight out denies[8] being controlled opposition, the work of these proponents may still be an effort (or co-opted effort) by US/UK intelligence, to equate people who are interested in "conspiracy theories" with believers in a flat Earth - within a general effort to discredit people that subscribe to "conspiracy theories".
Earth Curvature
Standing at the back of a ship and watching buildings shrink in the distance from the bottom up, is the simplest test that everybody can do to see and confirm for oneself, that there indeed is a curvature (curvature can't actually be viewed this way). It appears that videos by "flat earther's" that try to debunk this fact, are getting very complicated when trying to explain away this very simple, straightforward observation (while other facts that may get discussed in those videos are not complicated at all). Eric Dubay's '200 Proofs Earth is Not a Spinning Ball' has been viewed by millions. Youtube has censored and buried it from search. Dubay explains Earth Curvature in his proofs. [9] In his 2024 update, featured on Rumble, the first minute add documentation from NASA manuals, MIT, US Army, and CIA all referring to Flat, Non-Rotating Earth, assuming the earth is flat, and not a spinning ball.[10]

Gaslighting | “This is also the model for the greater imperialist propaganda construct, not just with regard to Syria but with Russia, North Korea, Iran, and any other insolent government which refuses to bow to American supremacist agendas. It works like this: first, the oligarch-owned establishment media, which itself is chock full of Council on Foreign Relations members, uses other warmongering think tanks and its own massive funding to force deep state psyops like Russiagate and “Saddam has WMDs” into becoming the mainstream narrative. Second, they use the mainstream, widely-accepted status of this manufactured narrative to paint anyone who questions it as a mentally defective tinfoil hat-wearing conspiracy theorist. It’s a perfect scheme. The mass media has given a few elites the ability to effectively turn a false story that they themselves invented into an established fact so broadly accepted that anyone who doubts it can be painted in the exact same light as someone who doubts the roundness of the Earth. The illusion of unanimous agreement is so complete that blatant establishment psyops are placed on the same level as settled scientific fact, even though it’s made of little else but highly paid pundits making authoritative assertions in confident tones of voice day after day.” | Caitlin Johnstone | 12 February 2018 |
