House Select Committee on Assassinations.jpg
Interest ofThe Coalition on Political Assassinations
A list of 25 of people assassinated in the 1970s. Some of these were people who were killed because of their role in the JFK assassination. Many more were due to testify at the House Select Committee on Assassinations, convened because of the widespread use of assassination in the US in the 1960s, in large part to keep a lid on that event and the subsequent assassinations.

This list is of people who were specifically targeted. For people who may have been randomly murdered, see 1970s/Murders.

The assassinations of the 1970s, in part, stemmed from the desire to contain the truth about the assassinations of the 1960s, especially the JFK assassination. In 2008, Peter Dale Scott published an essay on The Assassinations of the 1960s as "Deep Events", an important step in spreading the term "deep event".[1]

The chairman of the HSCA, Frank Church, displays a CIA poison dart gun used for covert assassinations. It could cause either cancer or a heart attack.

Many people, especially mid level spooks, died sudden deaths just prior to testifying before this committee. The committee was unsuccessful at getting to the bottom of the political assassinations in the US in the previous decade, but it did expose some some of the goings on.

The JFK assassination lead to more assassinations in the 1970s, just as it did in the 1960s. These included witnesses, participants and would be investigators. George de Mohrenschildt (Lee Harvey Oswald's handler) was perhaps the most prominent of those involved, while Dorothy Kilgallen was perhaps the most famous journalist assassinated.
