Jean-Claude Juncker is a EU politican and head of the European Commission 2014-19. Subjects in his period included the creation of a digital single market, the development of an EU Energy Union, the negotiation of the Transatlantic Trade Agreement, the continued reform of the Economic and Monetary Union of the European Union — with the social dimension in mind, a "targeted fiscal capacity" for the Eurozone, the EU takeover of Greece after the debt crisis, and the relationship with Britain. The European Joint Action on vaccination initiative was also started on his watch.

Speculations about alcoholism surrounded Juncker for several years and have been discussed by several high-profile EU politicians.
