Official narrative

Wikipedia reports that there "is no formal process for selecting the Secretary General. Instead, the members of NATO traditionally reach a consensus on who should serve next. This procedure often takes place through informal diplomatic channels." The official narrative denies that the Bilderberg group is anything more than a social event, so the control of NATO by that group is unacknowledged. The appointment is for 4 years, although it may be extended.

Control by Bilderberg

Given the secrecy surrounding the Bilderberg conferences, their control over who becomes Secretary General is hard to prove. Nevertheless, it is interesting that at least since 1971, all permanent NATO Secretary Generals have attended Bilderberg meetings before being appointed to the job. Most of the others are known or strongly suspected Bilderbergers:

  • Hastings Ismay, (1952-1957), Appointed before the first Bilderberg meeting. Named by some as a Bilderberg attendee.[1]
  • Paul-Henri Spaak, (1957-1961), Bilderberger (1963, possibly before)
  • Dirk Stikker, (1961-1964), Bilderberger (1964, possibly before)
  • Manlio Brosio, (1964-1971), Suspected Bilderberger (1965-1967)
  • Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo, (2003) Not a suspected Bilderberger, acting for 2 weeks only
  • Sergio Balanzino, (1994, 1995) Not a suspected Bilderberger, twice acting, for <4 months in total
