Opinions
In 2016 "I have always been (and am) opposed to Norwegian EU membership, but recognize the EU's historic role in creating peace in Europe and reducing barriers to trade and investment."[1]
In 2017 published a book, a "manifest for liberal values in social democracy"[2], where he worries about "spread of alternative truths in the public debate. Blogs, click news, and Facebook discussions can help distort the debates on the above issues.'[3]
In February 2019, he wrote 'how cuts in Norwegian oil exports will result in a real reduction in global greenhouse gas emissions. It argues that a reduction in the supply of oil and gas signals support for the Paris Agreement."[4]
A signal from Norway that it supports the transition to a fossil-free society can make other countries more motivated to implement emission cuts.
In 2024 wanted Norwegian aid money to subsidize private investments in "renewable energy" in developing countries.[5]
