The assassinations of the 1970s |
This list is of people who were specifically targeted. For people who may have been randomly murdered, see 1970s/Murders.
The assassinations of the 1970s, in part, stemmed from the desire to contain the truth about the assassinations of the 1960s, especially the JFK assassination. In 2008, Peter Dale Scott published an essay on The Assassinations of the 1960s as "Deep Events", an important step in spreading the term "deep event".[1]

The JFK assassination lead to more assassinations in the 1970s, just as it did in the 1960. These included witnesses, participants and would be investigators. George de Mohrenschildt (Lee Harvey Oswald's handler) was perhaps the most prominent of those involved, while Dorothy Kilgallen was perhaps the most famous journalist assassinated.
