George Robert Perkovich III is an American academic who specializes in nuclear proliferation. He attended the 2003 Bilderberg meeting.

Education

After attending school, Perkovich first studied political science at the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC) and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A. Politics) in 1981. He completed his postgraduate studies in the Soviet Union department at Harvard University in 1986 with a Master of Arts (M.A. in Soviet Studies).

Career

After being a foreign policy advisor on the staff of Joe Biden, then a Democratic Senator from Delaware, between 1989 and 1990, he was director of the World Security Program of the W. Alton Jones Foundation from 1990 to 2001. In the 1960s, the Foundation was linked to the CIA, where it functioned as a front for the secret disbursement of funds.[1]

While working at the W. Alton Jones Foundation, he dealt with the Indian nuclear program, among other things, and published the book India's Nuclear Bomb: The Impact on Global Proliferation in 1999.

During this time, he received a Ph.D. in Foreign Policy at the University of Virginia in 1997.

He has been a member of the National Academy of Scienc's Committee on Arms Control and International Security, the Council on Foreign Relations Task Force on Nuclear Policy, and was a principal adviser to the International Commission on Nuclear Nonproliferation and Disarmament.[2]

He published an article in Project Syndicate[3] and is an agenda contributor for the World Economic Forum.[4]
