Anniken Scharning Huitfeldt is a Norwegian politician for the Norwegian Labour Party. She was Foreign Minister from 2021.

Arms industry

In August 2023, it was exposed that her husband, Ola Flem, a day trader in stocks by profession, has bought and sold shares, including shares in the arms manufacturer Kongsberg Gruppen, while Huitfeldt has been foreign minister.[1] FM Huitfeldt was involved in handing several billion dollars over to Ukraine, including large deliveries of arms from Norwegian arms manufacturers.

Head of the National Authority for Investigation and Prosecution of Economic and Environmental Crime (Økokrim), Pål K. Lønseth, said he was disqualified to investigate because of his close working relationship with Huitfeldt. At the same time Økokrim stated through Lønseth's deputy that it "believes there is no basis for assessing questions related to insider trading after Anniken Huitfeldt's husband traded shares while she was foreign minister."[2]

The exposure had no political consequences for Huitfeldt.
