Education

She obtained her law degree in 1986, then her bar exam in 1989.

Career

The same year, she joined the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, where she held various positions before arriving at the head of the Political Division II in 2006. She is the first (and since only) woman to be appointed Swiss Ambassador to Iran, a position she held from 2009 to 2013. She returned to Bern after being appointed Federal Council Delegate for Trade Agreements, a position attached to the Secretariat of State for the Economy (SECO) from 2013 to 2018. In 2018, she was the first woman to be appointed Swiss Ambassador to France, a position she held until October 2020.
