David Lammy is an English Labour Party politician who was appointed UK/Foreign Secretary following Labour's landslide victory in the UK/General election/2024.[1]

Career

David Lammy became Member of Parliament (MP) for Tottenham following the 2000 Tottenham by-election,[2] and is Shadow Foreign Secretary in Keir Starmer's Shadow Cabinet since November 2021.[3]

In December 2021, he apologised for nominating Jeremy Corbyn for leader at a Jewish festival.[4]

Vox Political tweeted:

This Site has praised David Lammy in the past – particularly over his defence of the Windrush generation of UK citizens the Tories tried to deny and deport. But his latest outburst deserves no support at all. It shows that he is a two-faced fairweather friend who says only what he thinks will help him. We already have a Boris Johnson for that kind of behaviour – and it belongs in the Tory Party, not Labour.[5]

Political opinions

David Lammy is one of the biggest supporters of NATO in the House of Commons.[6]
