Career
Ercel was "Deputy Director General of the Turkish Treasury, in charge of Foreign Exchange, Banking Supervision, the World Bank and the Research Departments. He was then appointed Director General of the Turkish Treasury in charge of International Economic Development in 1987."[1]
Gazi Ercel was Governor of the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey from 1996-2001. Earlier in his career he worked for the IMF in Washington DC, as the Assistant to the Executive Director. He later was the Director General of the Turkish Treasury in charge of International Economic Development.
In 2003 he established a financial advisory firm, Ercel Global Advisory providing consultancy services.[1]
