Propornot is an anonymous spooky group which kicked off the steadily intensifying "Fake News Website" campaign in 2016 by publishing a list of websites in the Washington Post. Over the next few years, most of the websites on the list, including Wikispooks, found themselves scrubbed or shadow banned by corporate social media and search engines (Google), and some experienced various other forms of harassment and intimidation.

Affiliation and Identification

The group brandishes a US flag and was quick to label websites (such as this one) "Russian Propaganda". It is critical of anyone who are not aligned the US establishment, indicating a US deep state, permanent war mentality. PropOrNot has refused to identify themselves. The Washington Post described them vaguely as “an independent team of concerned American citizens.”

Natural News, one of the websites listed by PropOrNot announced a $10,000 reward for the identities of the group.[2]

George H. Elias claimed in May 2018 that the group was a project of the Atlantic Council and that "Michael Weiss and company are the people behind Propornot".[3]

The language of the group, its frequent undocumented claims of websites being outlets of "Russian Propaganda" are suggestive of the UK's Integrity Initiative/Institute for Statecraft. It seems likely therefore that it was a NATO/deep state propaganda operation.

Types of Targeted Websites

Most of the websites on the list are critics of US foreign policy, from various perspectives. The long list included a few sites actually funded by the Russian government, like Russia Today and Sputnik News, but the vast majority were fully based in "the West".

One type of website on the list - particularly intriguing in connection to the Covid-19 deep event a few years later - is websites discussing medical alternatives and health prevention to avoid the invasive and drug-intensive treatments offered by Big Pharma. For example, websites promoting vitamins and lifestyle choices is a strange target for the Atlantic Council.

Prepper websites, encouraging survival preparations in case of a major disaster, like a Catastrophic Power Outage, were also targeted.

Enemy Images

Propornot's claim that the websites on its list were outlets of "Russian propaganda" is an interesting invocation of a cold war image. This pitted the Western "free world" lead by the USA against the USSR's Eastern "Evil Empire" which promoted totalitarian communism rather than "free market" capitalism. This same mentality is reflected in Wikipedia's policy of having a blacklist of "unreliable" websites (including this one). Anything said by any site on the list can be deemed "unreliable", even if backed by a lot of otherwise compelling evidence. The Wikispooks way, by contrast is to focus primarily on the real world evidence - avoiding both blind trust in and uncritical rejection of whoever is presenting it.

Proscribed words

PropOrNot tweeted in January 2019 that usage of words such as "warmonger" and "establishment" are primarily used by "Russian propaganda".
