Francis Christopher Ghilès is a member of the Institute for Statecraft. He is a member of the IfS "TOR Team" with a reported 25 years of experience. His job title is listed as "Forensic research" and his other roles as "Other role Russia energy and infowar link between Europe and MENA".[1]


In 1967 Ghilès was a Research Assistant to Pierre Mendès (Mayor of Grenoble).

His Linkedin page states "Trilingual political scientist who through eighteen years at the Financial Times reporting on international capital markers and North Africa built up extensive experience and contacts throughout the Western Mediterranean, the UK, the USA, Japan and Europe, especially France and Spain. Analyses emerging security, political and denergy trands and connects themm to European, US and North African policy priorities".


Ghilès has written for a range of commercially-controlled media outlies such as the Financial Times (for 18 years),[2] Le Monde, Berfrois,[3] The New York Times and El Pais.


Ghilès has been published in a variety of commercially-controlled media about "terrorism" for over 25 years,[4] especially in France.[5][6][7]

Ghilès wrote with fellow IfS member Alan Riley on Brexit in a piece 2016 for the Barcelona Centre for International Affairs that "Europe is at an Inflexion Point of Danger", in an articled that concluded that "Perhaps, however, the last gift Britain can provide the Union is of Brexit, as a shock sufficient to reform itself and save a unique form of international co-operation that for most of the last five decades served Europe and Europeans so well."[9]
