An "independent" NGO and media outlet financed by the usual cluster of deep state connected foundations.

Forbidden Stories (FS) is an "independent" NGO and media outlet financed by the usual cluster of deep state connected foundations. Forbidden Stories also has collaborated with Bellingcat on projects, and the founder of the project, Laurent Richard, attended the Integrity Initiative's 2018 meeting Tackling Tools of Malign Influence.

Own words

Forbidden Stories was founded by award-winning journalist and filmmaker Laurent Richard. In 2015, he arrived at work across from the Charlie Hebdo office in Paris to find his fellow journalists massacred by terrorists. This experience convinced him of the need for a journalistic response to crimes committed against the press.[1]

We provide journalist with the ability to drop their sensitive information into one of our secure communication channels. If something happens to them, we will ensure the survival of their stories, beyond borders, beyond governments, beyond censorship.[1]

Work

Forbidden Stories has continued the work of journalists after they have died:

In 2021 Forbidden Stories was part of the team of investigative journalists that made information about Project Pegasus public.[20]

People

The founder of the project, Laurent Richard, attended the Integrity Initiative's 2018 meeting Tackling Tools of Malign Influence.

Board members as of June 2023.[21]

Funding

The financing from UNESCO was small ($35,000) compared to those received from various funds and foundations. In the certificate of chartered accountant attached to its file, Freedom Voices Network declares to have received nearly 600,000 euros in 2018 and 2019 from donors such as Luminate (the fund of Pierre Omidyar, founder of Ebay), Open Society (George Soros), the the National Endowment for Democracy, etc.[22]

EventDescription
Fritt OrdNorwegian grant giving foundation with Cold War origins.
LuminatePierre Omidyar's foundation for financing global media and civil society groups. It is unknown how close it coordinates with certain deep state US government agencies.
National Endowment for DemocracyThe "traditional intermediary of the CIA", promoting the US "national interest" abroad by financing groups and individuals.
Open Society FoundationsA NGO operating in more countries than McDonald's. It has the tendency to support politicians (at times through astroturfing) and activists that get branded as "extreme left" as its founder is billionaire and bane of the pound George Soros. This polarizing perspective causes the abnormal influence of the OSF to go somewhat unanswered.
